I am an educator, first and foremost, to shape and change the way we teach mathematics. I utilize many ideas and practices in my teaching, focusing primarily on liberatory and humanizing pedagogies (Critical Pedagogy, Justice Centered Pedagogy, Anarchist Pedagogies, etc.).

I believe that all people can and should utilize mathematics as a way of understanding our world, but that we need to radically change the way that we expect people to interact with mathematics in an educational setting. I believe in collaborative learning (Complex Instruction, Building Thinking Classrooms, etc.), students as creators and developers of curriculum and ideas, having fun (playing games and doing art), and promoting critical thinking and discussion through rich and interesting contexts.

I have taught everything from 8th mathematics to AP Calculus and Dual Enrollment College Algebra, at a variety of levels (typical, honors, and inclusion), as well as classes with high ELD populations or students within a Dual Language Cohort.

I obtained my B.S. in Mathematics (Comprehensive Option) from the U of A in May of 2007, my teaching certification through Pima Community College in 2009, and my M.A. in Teaching and Teacher Education (Mathematics Education Focus) from the U of A in May of 2020.
